Hewlett Packard Enterprise and Intel are joining to work on open standards for the Internet of Things, the companies announced today.

The two tech giants are also creating three global solutions labs to help customers speed deployment of applications for the IoT, and three discovery labs where companies can experiment with and test IoT applications and devices.

The labs, where organizations can test IoT applications, will be located at Hewlett Packard Enterprise facilities in Houston, Tex., Grenoble, France, and Singapore.

The alliance is an example of a growing IoT ecosystem, said Doug Davis, senior vice president of Intel s Internet of Things Group.

Alain Andreoli, Senior Vice President and General Manager of Hewlett Packard Enterprise Servers, said in a statement that developing successful business applications for the IoT can be daunting for organizations today due to the complexity of integrating many heterogeneous systems and technologies across devices, edge, network and data centers.
