PUBLISHED: | UPDATED:

Here s something that might move you: Facebook is testing letting mobile users use profile videos. You know, because those profile photos just sit there and don t do anything.

That s right, lovers of GIFs and Vines. The social network announced Wednesday that the obvious evolution of profiles  is rolling out to some iPhone users in California and the U.K. now, with a promise that others will soon get their chance to make their profiles more animated.

Not that we have a dirty mind or anything, but what could possibly go wrong?

Another new feature is the ability to set up temporary profile photos. Facebook s examples include if you want to show allegiance to your favorite sports team; announce it s your birthday; tell everyone you re on vacation (if you think that s a good idea). You can set your profile photo/video to be front and center again after a certain time.

But wait, there s more. You can feature up to five photos at the top of your profile. You can also add a short bio, a la Instagram or LinkedIn.

A word of caution: These new ways to express yourself will be public. So it s worth thinking about what you want the world — and ex-boyfriends, potential employers, advertisers — to know.
