Yo. Yeah, you. You remember Yo?

Last year, the app, which was built in under eight hours, did one thing and one thing well – it allowed users to send Yo to friends. In the past year, 150 million yos have been sent.

We re built to last, said Or Arbel, Yo s CEO, as we wrote then.

Yo shot to the top of the app charts. People loved its simplicity. Journalists held it up as an example of all that is wrong with this tech boom. And its founders landed more than $1 million in financing before it was hacked.

Now Yo is back, with an update that includes some key features, as reported by Mashable, whose CEO Peter Cashmore is a Yo investor. With the new Yo, a user can:

  • Take and send photos with one touch
  • Send Yo to a group
  • Send Yo and one s location
  • Send Yo to people who haven t installed the app.

So how is this going to help Yo? At some point, companies will be able to use Yo to communicate with customers, Arbel told Business Insider in December.

Danny Hakimian, a Yo cofounder, told Mashable that third party developers are working on using the firm s one touch control to connect with a range of apps and services. That can include breaking news notifications, to finding a parked car, to real-time sports scores — all of which are preceded by a yo, of course, Mashable says.
