Twitter introduced a new feature on Android devices today that delivers a daily summary of tweets to users through a push notification.

The feature, dubbed Highlights, aims to make it easier to browse through the microblogging website s stream of tweets.

To compile this summary, the company uses data about its users such as tweets from people they follow, trending topics in their area and more.

Twitter users will have to opt in to receive Highlights, which sends a push notification up to twice daily letting them know the summary is ready. The feature is expected to be available on other devices in the future, according to a company blog post about the topic.

Highlights is the latest change Twitter has recently made as the company ramps up efforts to attract more users, which the company has struggled to do. The company this month also redesigned its home page, allowing people to browse through top tweets without logging on.
