Netgear has started shipping the Digital Entertainer HD EVA800, a product that competes with the Apple TV.
The Digital Entertainer is a set-top box that automatically finds digital media files on your home networked PCs and storage devices, organizes them into a library and streams them to your high-definition television. It can play YouTube videos, Flickr photos, Internet radio, music and movies.
The product is available now in North America through select e-commerce sites for $399. It will ship worldwide in the second quarter through e-commerce sites, select retail stores and value-added resellers.
