While we’re itchin’ to find out the big winners tonight, there are other reasons why we’ll tune in for the 84th annual Academy Awards telecast.

Here are five of our main ones. Add your own below.

Uggie. The presence of the scene-stealing canine from “The Artist” will liven up any doggone tired awards show. We can just hear the “ohhs” and “ahhs” spanning the globe should Uggie prance onto the red carpet or scamper up to the podium. Let’s hope common sense prevails and the beloved Jack Russell terrier does show up — still undetermined as of Sunday morning — and show the humans what star quality is all about.

Viola Davis: During this marathon movie awards season, “The Help” best actress nominee has unfailingly delivered the most elegant acceptance speeches we’ve heard. We’re biting our nails and keeping fingers crossed she’ll be working her magic once more tonight. What a class act.

The Cirque show: : You never know what to expect from Cirque du Soleil, the trippy troupe slated to contort and jump their way through a movie-themed performance tonight. Since there are no best song numbers, we hope this will be a satisfying substitute. If not, well, we’ll keep our eyes peeled out for the outlandish shenanigans Sacha Baron Cohen will pull on the red carpet.

Billy Crystal: He’s baaaack, and he’s gotta be better than the dismal co-hosting team of James Franco and Anne Hathaway. Now, if only Crystal adds a dash of spice to his material.

The Fashions: By next year, we might have a tough time recalling which film actually took home the top prize. But that gorgeous gown worn by Angelina Jolie? It will likely remain seared in our memory banks. Here’s hoping the red carpet is awash with real eye-openers — both good and bad, of course.
