Carl Cookson and Kathy Orlenko have joined the board of directors of History San Jose.

Cookson, who lives in the Rose Garden neighborhood, is a native of San Jose and worked in the title insurance business. He is active in Rotary Club of San Jose, Symphony Silicon Valley, City Lights Theatre, Silicon Valley FACES, San Jose Silicon Valley Chamber of Commerce, Children’s Discovery Museum and Silicon Valley Arts Council.

Cookson and his wife Sharron were honored for their contributions to the culture and heritage of Santa Clara Valley by History San Jose at the group’s annual Valley of Heart’s Delight event in June.

Orlenko, a Santa Clara resident, has worked as a conservator with museums, libraries and archives in the area of preservation. She worked at the Library of Congress, the Walters Art Gallery, the Huntington Library and the National Archives before starting her own consultation business.

Board chair Dave Satterfield said, “History San Jose is delighted to get two board members with the stature and experience of Carl Cookson and Kathy Orlenko. We’re proud of all that History San Jose has been able to accomplish and look forward to even better days ahead.”
