SAN JOSE — A 23-year-old man was arrested Wednesday on suspicion of being in possession of child pornography after a five-month investigation, authorities said.

A search warrant was served around 11 a.m. at the S. 21st Street home of Rowell Ranario, who was arrested at the scene.

According to the Santa Clara County Sheriff’s Office, computer equipment and electronic storage devices containing pornographic images of children were found and taken as evidence.

Sgt. Jose Cardoza said they found several such images at the scene.

“However, we still need to do further analysis of the computers and memory devices, which means there may be more images we will soon find,” Cardoza said. “It may take a few days before we have rough estimates.”

Cardoza declined to elaborate on how detectives came to believe Ranario was in possession of such images, saying only that it was through “investigative techniques.”

Ranario’s bail was set at $25,000.

The arrest was made by a sheriff’s office sex crimes task force, with the assistance of U.S. Marshall’s Service and the San Jose Police Department.
