Join us from 12:30-1:30 p.m. today for an online chat to discuss the shooting in Aurora, Colorado that left at least 12 dead and 71 wounded. The gunman reportedly used a shotgun and rifle and had at least two canisters that spewed noxious gas in the movie theater where shootings took place. The mass killing raises questions about access to high-powered weapons and whether a shooting like this could happen here in California. To help answer these questions will be Laura Cutilletta, a staff attorney at the Center to Prevent Gun Violence, located in San Francisco.
The center was formed following the July 1, 1993, assault weapon rampage at a law firm at 101 California Street in San Francisco that ended with ten people dead, including the shooter.
