Bush 7th in Nation

There were more than 100 athletes from 24 states in the field when Saratoga High School sophomore Tristan Bush, then still considered a freshman, participated in the hammer throw at the USATF Junior Olympics National Track and Field Championships in Texas last summer. And Bush proved to be among the best when he whirled his hammer 149 feet, 7 inches to finish seventh in the boys 15-16 age group. The mark was the second best in the nation among high school freshmen, and his top eight finish was good for recognition as a USA Track and Field Association All-American. Bush, who competes for the Sierra Foothill Track and Field Club and is also a weightman on the Saratoga High School track team in the spring, qualified for the Junior Olympics by placing in two sectional meets.
