COVID-19 might have waylaid the annual gathering to sing sea chanteys at the San Francisco Maritime National Historical Park’s historic ships, but the scurvy dog of a virus can’t stop the music — or the technology.
The annual sing-along is scheduled virtually for noon Sept. 19. With help from the San Francisco Maritime Park Association, the maritime park’s non-profit partner, landlubbers can livestream the event.
Park Ranger Peter Kasin will be introducing singers and explaining the songs and their purpose. Singers, who have signed up for performing slots in advance, will share their favorite songs, either accompanying themselves on traditional instruments, or performing a capella.
The home audience is encouraged to join in, assured that no one except a salty dog will know your singing off key.
