Facebook is experiencing yet another social media blackout.

After a brief outage last Thursday, the world’s most popular media site began to display an error message as people online continued to frantically click refresh.

Facebook users took to microblogging site Twitter to gripe about the outage at about 12 p.m., using the hashtag facebookdown. But by 1:17 p.m., the site was still down.

“We’re currently restoring Facebook services that people had trouble accessing earlier today due to a configuration issue. We’re working to bring things back to normal for everyone. We apologize to those who have been inconvenienced,” Facebook said in a statement.

Some quipped that the black out has forced them to talk to people in person instead of online.

There are also reports that the outage is affecting sites linked to Facebook including photo-sharing site Instagram.

In January, Facebook also experienced an hour-long outage, which the company said was because of an internal change not a cyberattack.
