Intel and Mountain View startup BlueData are teaming up to offer a chip to software solution for companies deploying software to manage mountains of data.

The relationship combines Intel s Xeon processor used in data centers with BlueData s software that simplifies the deployment of big data applications and infrastructure. BlueData will optimize its software for Intel s architecture.

We are focused on bringing big data into the mainstream and unlocking the value for our enterprise customers, Intel CEO Brian Krzanich said in a statement.

Intel also announced a $20 million round of investment in Blue Data, with other investors, which BlueData said it will use to expand its engineering, sales, business development and marketing teams. It s Intel s third investment in the company since 2012.

BlueData s software works with most Hadoop and Spark deployments and integrates with most data analysis applications and runs with any shared environment, the company says.
