President Barack Obama has expressed his condolences for the passing of Silicon Valley executive Dave Goldberg in a heartfelt Facebook post.
“David Goldberg embodied the definition of a real leader – someone who was always looking for ways to empower others,” Obama said on the White House Facebook page. “We’re heartbroken by him leaving us far too soon – but we celebrate a remarkable legacy.”
Goldberg, CEO of SurveyMonkey and husband of Facebook COO Sheryl Sandberg, died Saturday in Mexico, apparently after slipping on a treadmill and hitting his head.
Sandberg responded to the post, thanking Obama for “this beautiful tribute.”
A private memorial service for Goldberg will be held today at Stanford University.
