The race to snap up more land continues to heat up in Mountain View as tech firms such as LinkedIn and Google propose new headquarters in North Bayshore.

Now LinkedIn is moving forward with plans to purchase a .87 acre parcel of land where the Sports Page Bar & Grill sits.

LinkedIn spokesman Doug Madey told this newspaper today that the social network is under contract to purchase the land and the process isn t fully completed yet.

That doesn t mean that the sports bar at 1431 Plymouth St., which includes an outdoor patio and a volleyball court, will shut down.

Beyond that, we re actively working with the tenant so the business will continue to be part of the project. At this point, since we re still under contract, that s all I can say, Madey said.

The Silicon Valley Business Journal, which first reported the story, noted that city documents show that the social network plans to use the land to build a hotel.
