Apple s already massive footprint in its hometown is growing.

The tech giant has leased two office buildings in Cupertino s upcoming Main Street shopping center, the Silicon Valley Business Journal reported, citing public records. The new leases give Apple about 260,000 square feet of additional space.

Construction on Apple s spaceship campus is racing ahead toward a 2016 completion date, but the company clearly still has an appetite for more. Apple already occupies about 60 percent of the commercial real estate in Cupertino, city officials told the Mercury News in February, raising concerns about the company s dominance in town.

Although Apple s presence is concentrated in Cupertino, its territory spills over to neightboring towns like Sunnyvale, where it is rumored to be working on its mysterious car project.

Main Street, a long awaited addition to Cupertino, is a mixed-use development project that will be completed just across the 280 freeway from Apple s spaceship campus.
