Marvell Technologies, which has its U.S. headquarters in Santa Clara, says it will cut 17 percent of its global workforce of about 7,000 employees — that s about 1,200 jobs. The company is shifting its focus away from mobile and to the Internet of things.

Netflix reportedly getting deeper into original content by shooting its own shows, cutting out other studios involvement.

Speaking of Netflix, it has added the ability to subscribe to its streaming service via its iOS app. It s a move that the company might have avoided in the past because of the cut Apple takes from in-app purchases.
