It s a horribly mismanaged company — probably a lot of pot-smoking going on there. But it s such a solid franchise it may even work with all that.

Peter Thiel, after being asked whether he s bullish on Twitter. (But he basically said there s not much CEO Dick Costolo can do about it, so he might as well stay.) The PayPal co-founder/venture capitalist/deep thinker is also — no kidding — outspoken, and he had other things to say on CNBC s Squawk Box this morning. On Uber, which he called ethically challenged : There s always a question, you know, how intensely you re allowed to compete, and Uber is right on the line. (Thiel has an investment in Uber competitor Lyft. The two companies are in a heated battle in the ride-sharing world.) On whether he would rather invest in Google or Apple: (I d) probably still go with Google, saying Apple risks losing pricing power on smartphones, and that the company needs something big enough to move the dial.
