Teams from the Union, Cambrian Park and Quito Little Leagues all reached the final round in District 12 tournament play earlier this month, but only Union could bring home a district pennant.
Union won the title in the 10-year-old tourney, beating Quito in the finals.
Cambrian Park sent a team to the major division finals but it was Saratoga winning the tourney crown.
Willow Glen was the 9-year-old champion, and Los Gatos American won the 11-year-old title in District 12 play.
Major division
Cambrian Park went all the way to the championship game in the major division of the District 12 all-star tournament, but ultimately fell to Saratoga. Cambrian reached the final game after defeating Almaden North 4-3 in the semifinals on July 9 after going 4-1 in pool play.
The members of the Cambrian Park team included Brooks Allen, Hayden Carroll, Eric Cunniff, Michael Gagliasso, Marcel Gomez, Michael Guarino, Jake Holton, Michael Machado, Jacob Pinkerton, Nicholas Saglimbeni, Shane Sanchez and Alexander Zarate.
The Almaden North team consisted of Jace Dabak, Adam Dietz, Matthew Goldstein, Britt Hausmann, Black Jaciow, Matt Lee, Jake Munson, Wyatt Raineri, Marcus Rocca, Sam Vogel, Ryan Wilderink and Zack Silva.
10-year-old all-stars
Union’s 10-year-old all-star team took home a championship in the District 12 tournament after defeating Quito in the championship game.
Union posted a 3-1 record in pool play, beating Los Gatos National (23-5), Almaden North (8-6) and Los Gatos American (10-0) while losing to Branham Hills (10-7), before edging Cambrian Park (5-4) in the semifinals.
The players on the Union team were Tim Lamour, Bryce Marcum, Wesley Viner, Ryan Junker, Trevor Strachman, Ayden van den Berg, Mik Noll, Michael Montrezza, Nic Robinson, Luke Short, Corbin Castro, Riley Houser. Coaches were Jay Viner, Eric Houser and Mike Montrezza.
Quito went into the championship game in the 10-year-old all-star tourney after going 4-1 in pool play and defeating Branham Hills 11-1 in the semifinals.
The players for the Quito team were Ethan Anderson, Adam Brockett, Dylan Kunzmann, Jason Munsch, Rick Pearce, Cameron Rottler, Troy Rottler, Matthew Salvador, Hunter Schilperoort, Robert Scott, Tyler Wegner and Eric Yang.
The members of the Branham Hills team included Adrian Alvarez, Alec Blase, Keith Dockendorf, J.T. (Jacob) Johnson, Nicolas Johnson, Nathan Kelly, Kyle Kroening, Nathaniel Ortega, Jared Reupert, Andy Rintala, Sean Rooney, Nathaniel Stapes and Ryan Wallace.
11-year-old all-stars
Union’s 11-year-old all-star team went all the way to the semifinal round of the District 12 tournament but fell to Saratoga 13-0 after going 4-1 in pool play.
The members of the Union team included Nolan Smith, Emilio Nogales, Matthew Pearson, Logan Roberts, Jack Vodicka, Coleman Yamakoshi, Kyle Johnson, Jacob Mosko, Justin Norcia, Jake Pao, Thomas Urban, Will Butler and Andrew Cabri.
Quito’s 11-year-old all-star team also reached the district semifinals, where it fell to Los Gatos American. The members of the Quito team were Nolan Berry, Bryson Gomez, Allen Graves, Sesil Ponce, Crian Presa, Isaiah Retlewski, Dominic Rottler, Jackson Scalise, Joshua Ward, E.J. Wookey and Nathaniel Young.
