While the world combs through the past comedic offerings of Trevor Noah to forecast what kind of a host he’ll be on “The Daily Show,” Bay Areans will have a chance to observe the 31-year-old South Africa-born entertainer firsthand.

Noah is booked to perform five shows at Cobb’s Comedy Club in San Francisco May 1-3. Tickets are $25 at cobbscomedyclub.com.

Noah was a surprise pick announced Monday to replace Jon Stewart as host of beloved “Daily Show.” Stewart announced earlier this year he is stepping down after 16 years.

Noah has already drawn fire for posting jokes on Twitter that some are calling anti-semitic and misogynistic. He has already proved himself to be eager to take on social and racial issues while joking on such topics as global politics and how Americans view Africa.

Most of the shows are already sold out.
