SINGLE-FAMILY HOME BUILDING PERMITS

Fewer permits for the construction of single-family homes were issued in most California metro areas in May compared with May 2007. The numbers rose in the San Jose area, but one condo project in Sunnyvale was responsible for the increase.

The San Jose metro area includes Santa Clara and San Benito counties; S.F./San Mateo includes San Francisco, San Mateo and Marin; Oakland/Fremont includes Alameda and Contra Costa.
