Bye bye Borland: ex-Silicon Valley company to be acquired by Micro Focus(1)

borland-logoBorland, the one-time Microsoft rival originally founded in 1983 in a space over a garage in Scotts Valley , has agreed to be acquired by Micro Focus for $1 a share. Excluding Borland’s $8 million of net cash and short term investments, the deal is valued at $67 million. The purchase price represented a 25 percent premium to Borland’s 80-cent per-share price the day before the deal was announced.
