Suisun City Police investigators seek any information that will help them solve a bizarre ATM theft early Monday morning on Sunset Avenue.
Dispatched at 3:30 a.m., officers responded to a bank ATM alarm in the 700 block of the avenue, near Railroad Avenue. During their drive to the alarm site, they received a call indicated that a semi-truck had collided with the ATM, according to a police department post on social media.
Upon the officers’ arrival and shortly afterward, an investigation revealed the semi-truck and a forklift had been reported stolen from the City of Oakdale in Stanislaus County.
Officers canvassed the scene and collected evidence.
At press time, in an additional social media post, investigators noted that, through collaboration with the Stanislaus County Sheriff’s Office auto theft task force, the ATM and two other stolen vehicles used in the crime were found near Modesto.
Because the investigation is ongoing, investigators ask anyone with information about the crime to call the Suisun City Police Department at 421-7373.
