Despite the 49ers remaining winless after four weeks, Ronnie Lott’s tune about the team has changed a bit since September.
When the 49ers legend appeared Friday on KNBR, radio producer Patrick Connor played the 1980 song “Something To Believe In” by Curtis Mayfield — and Lott rolled with it two weeks after offering a more sour take on the 49ers.
“There is a moment where some teams can make you believe. And right now, there are moments that I sit there and I kind of believe that this thing is kind of moving in the right direction,” Lott told the Murph & Mac show. “It’s a long season, it’s a tough season — but they’re making me believe. Just the effort. I’m seeing just effort that I didn’t see last year. I like how they are kind of making me believe in certain situations.”
Lott sounded kind of, sort of sure about his appreciation of these 49ers — mostly because of their effort.
“There is the intensity of how they’re playing,” Lott said. “Are they winning? No. But I’ve got to believe that the intensity in some of the hits and some of the things that are going on and the way they are going at it, and being in games, it kind of makes me believe that things are moving in the right direction.
“So hats off to the guys.”
