Robotics Boot Camp

St. Mary’s School launched a robotics club in August, with students participating in a two-week programming boot camp just prior to the beginning of the regular school year. The kids first learned the fundamentals of software engineering and the core elements of ‘C’ language. The camp also included in-depth programming instruction in preparation for the start of robot building this fall. The club’s curriculum incorporates hands-on learning through machines and robots to encourage creative problem solving. The inaugural club is made up of girls and boys in grades 6-8 who meet once or twice a week. Club members plan on participating in two to three competitions this year. Club members include, front row from left, Gage Sandman, George Babalis, Rosalie Jensen and Even Abate; second row from left, Ann Nguyen, Colin Connor, Noelle Nguyen, Andrew Nystrom, Matthew Nazari, Trent Normandin and Henry Marquez; and back row from left, instructors Paul Coe and Erin Delgado.
