Robert De Niro admits he’ll have to change his plans to punch Donald Trump in the face.

How awful for him.

The “Goodfellas” actor was intensely critical of Trump during the election, saying at one point in a video he wanted to smack him around. On “Jimmy Kimmel Live!” on Wednesday, the host asked him about his assertion, pointing out that he would now get arrested for it.

“I can’t do that now. He’s the President,” said De Niro. “But, you know, I have to respect that position. Though we all know what he … anyway … We have to see what he’s going to do and how he’s really going to follow through on certain things.”

Right.

The New York Daily News pointed out that the 73-year-old New York native has called Trump a “bull (expletive) artist,” “dog,” “pig,” and “punk,” among other adjectives. Two days before the election, De Niro called Trump “totally insane.”

Don’t beat around the bush, Bob. Tell us what you really mean.

Kimmel pointed out that, since the election, President Obama said we’re all on the same team. Obama met with Trump at the White House on Thursday. Then Kimmel pointed out that even teammates punch each other sometimes.

De Niro responded “Maybe he (Obama) will when he sees him (Trump) tomorrow.”
