  • Menlo-Atherton 12, Alma Heights-Pacifica 11: Monica Vasquez drove in the winning run in the 7th inning of the non-league game in Atherton. Katie Vallarino had 2 hits including a triple and 2 RBIs for M-A. Mariella Matute had 3 hits including a triple and an RBI. Tami Vujovich had 1 hit and 4 RBIs and pitched the last 1 2/3 innings to notch her 5th win against 7 losses. M-A outhit Alma Heights 10-9 and made 1 fewer error (7-6). Records: AH 7-7, M-A 5-14

  • Burlingame 20, Castilleja-Palo Alto 5: Castilleja’s goalie had 8 saves, including two 8-meter shots, in the Foothill Division of the West Bay Athletic League. Merenbach scored twice for the Gators. Jasuja and Koontz each scored once. Records: B 10-2, 5-1 WBAL; C 1-4 WBAL

  • Menlo School-Atherton 193, Harker-San Jose 202: Junior Patrick Grimes continued to lead the Knights, this time shooting a 36 to tie Harker’s Maverick McNealy for the low round on the nine-hole, par-35 course at Menlo Country Club. Freshman Andrew Buchanan and junior Bobby Pender shot 38s for Menlo, which got a 40 from MJ Cootsona, a 41 from Will Petit and a 44 from James Huber.

    BOYS LACROSSE

  • Menlo School-Atherton 7, Los Gatos 3: The Knights remained unbeaten in the Santa Clara Valley Athletic League by breaking open a close game in the third period, when they outscored the Wildcats 4-0. Menlo led 1-0 after one period, 2-1 at halftime and 6-1 after three periods. Bullington scored 3 times for the Knights. Lee added 2 goals, picked up 9 groundballs and won 9 of 14 faceoffs. The Knights’ defense was stellar, allowing 8 shots. Grant Evans had 5 saves. Osborne had a goal and an assist, and Kvamme also scored. Mackenzie assisted on 2 goals, and Brown assisted on one. Record: MS 11-4, 11-0 SCVAL

  • Menlo-Atherton 21, Woodside Priory-Portola Valley 6: Tommy Cummings and Pierce Osgood had 4 goals each for the visiting Bears. Zander Rohn, Ben Burnett, Jai Vaswani and John Athens each had a pair of goals, and Alex Fioretti, Hassan Saad, Alec VanStone and Adam Sklarin each scored once. Goalie Chase Connell had some tough saves. M-A led 9-0 after one period and 15-3 at halftime. Purvin tallied 3 goals for Priory. Bevilacqua had a pair and Schreiner had a single. Goalie Ward had his work cut out for him, but had some decent saves. M-A hosts Menlo School-Atherton today. Records: M-A 4-6, WP 0-9

  • Sacred Heart Prep-Atherton 4, International-San Francisco 3: Pat McNamara allowed 1 earned run on 7 hits over 6 innings for the Gators in the non-league game in San Francisco. He struck out 5 and walked 2. Lynch got the win in relief. Bryan Kohrs was 2-for-4 including a double with a run scored and an RBI. Matt Martella went 1-for-3 and drove in 2 runs including the game-tying run. Bryan Munks drove home the game-winning run. Buono stole 2 bases for SHP. Covell stole 1. Both teams had 7 hits. SHP made 1 error, International made 2. Record: SHP 10-8-1, 4-0 league

  • Menlo School-Atherton 7, Mountain View 1: Sophomore Freddy Avis got the win for the visiting Knights, who outhit Mountain View 11-3. Both teams made 1 error in the non-league game. Danny Diekroeger doubled and homered and Mayer doubled for Menlo. Goulette doubled for the Spartans. Records: MS 13-6, MV 14-5

  • Menlo-Atherton 11, Saratoga 4: Tommy Cummings scored 6 goals to lead the Bears, who led 3-0 after one period, 6-1 at halftime and 9-3 after three periods. Zander Rohn scored twice. John Athens, Drew Uphoff and Tucker Albright each scored once. Goalie Trent Bastian made some great saves. Records: M-A 3-6, S 6-9
