BELMONT — Police arrested a Redwood City man Wednesday in connection with a $140,000 heist from a Portola Valley home that included guns, jewelry and a Porsche 991S, authorities said.

Sheriff’s Deputies spotted the car Wednesday in the 1100 block of Shoreway Road in Belmont after the break-in was reported earlier in the day. Authorities watched the car for several hours and finally moved in around 6:30 p.m. to arrest the suspect, who was found in the area, Sheriff’s Deputy Rebecca Rosenblatt said.

After being called to the home in the 100 block of Hillbrook Drive, investigators found an estimated $140,000 in valuables, including knives, a computer and jewelry, were missing. A Porsche similar to the one taken sells for $98,900, according to the automaker’s website.

Rosenblatt said deputies found valuables in the stolen car, but she didn’t have any further details. She said investigators were looking into whether the suspect, Juan Ortega-Ramos, 24, was responsible for the burglary. He was booked on suspicion of possession of stolen property.

Since Ortega-Ramos’ arrest investigators have found other items stolen from the Hillbrook home and possibly other burglaries, Rosenblatt said.
