An East Bay home built in 1955 once featured in Sunset magazine is for sale for $1,475,000.

The single-story ranch in Orinda’s Glorietta neighborhood is famous for its landscape. A June 1964 edition of Sunset Magazine included the story of the home’s landscape remodel, which began in 1958 and was completed in 1963.

Landscape architect Robert Moore’s design added new groundcover plants, a crabapple tree and an expanded entrance walkway to the front yard. In the backyard, a heart of redwood deck and matching patio are surrounded by a garden of drought-tolerant plants and boulders.

The landscape has remained largely the same since the Sunset feature. The current owner recently refinished the back deck, sanding and repainting each piece of the deck individually before reinstalling.

The 2,100 square foot house sits on a 3/4 acre lot and has four bedrooms and three baths.

Visit the property’s website for more information.
