Nanosolar’s eBay auction of one of its first solar panels was canceled over the company’s decision to donate proceeds to charity, which is against eBay policy.
The bidding had reached $13,000 with more than six days left when the San Jose auction company deleted the entry.
In his company’s blog, Nanosolar Chief Executive Martin Roscheisen said the situation was likely a misreading of eBay’s policy toward charities. His company debated the issue with eBay “without success. Upon review, we decided this isn’t a battle we care to fight more than an afternoon, so it’s back to building cells and panels for us.”
