SAN FRANCISCO — The naked acrobat accused of harassing riders at BART’s 16th Street Station — a bizarre performance of flips, handstands, and confrontations caught on video — was rearrested Monday and is facing additional charges, authorities said.
Yeiner Alberto Perez Garizabalo, 24, was taken into custody around noon and booked in jail on suspicion of two counts of felony false imprisonment and four counts of misdemeanor battery for the May 10 incident, according to the San Francisco District Attorney’s Office. Perez, who was originally booked on one count of battery, will be arraigned at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday in San Francisco Superior Court.
Awareness of the incident heightened last week when a video of the incident was posted online and quickly spread. The video shows a naked man, later identified as Perez, doing handstands on fare gates, harassing passengers and allegedly kicking and pushing a BART employee before grabbing a woman.
Officials have said the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement is monitoring Perez and considering deporting him because he’s not a U.S. citizen, though they will not identify which country he’s from. Perez is being held on $100,000 bail.
