A weeklong festival of events that surround the MLS All-Star game begins with a 5-kilometer fun run at 8 a.m. Sunday at Plaza de Cesar Chavez in downtown San Jose, the Earthquakes announced.

The week will be highlighted by the game July 28, featuring Major League Soccer’s top players against popular English power Arsenal FC at Avaya Stadium. Kickoff is 4:30 p.m. for the game that includes Earthquakes goalkeeper David Bingham and striker Chris Wondolowski as well as Toronto FC’s Sebastian Giovinco, the league’s reigning most valuable player.

It also includes the league’s future stars playing Wednesday night against Mexico’s under-20 national team. The MLS homegrown roster includes former Stanford players Jordan Morris and Aaron Kovar and the Earthquakes’ Tommy Thompson.

Morris has six goals and one assist as a Seattle Sounders rookie. Kovar also plays for the Sounders. Homegrown players are those developed through MLS team academies and not subject to the draft.
