State of the City set

Mayor Hung Wei will give her State of the City address Feb. 15, 5:30-8 p.m., at the Quinlan Community Center, 10185 N. Stelling Ave.

The city is presenting the event in partnership with the Rotary Club of Cupertino and the Cupertino Chamber of Commerce. RSVP by Feb. 8 to tinyurl.com/stateofthecity23.

Airport gets upgrades grant

The Norman Y. Mineta San Jose International Airport was recently awarded $10,990,000 through the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law signed by President Joe Biden. The airport is located in Rep. Ro Khanna’s 17th Congressional District, which includes Cupertino.

The funds are earmarked for upgrades to the airport terminal and improvements to ensure that the facilities comply with the Americans with Disabilities Act . The project was selected as part of a grant made through the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law Airport Terminal Program in fiscal year 2022.

“The funding from this grant will make vital improvements to the airport’s terminal and accessibility,” Khanna said in a statement.

Events for older adults

Bay Area Older Adults is hosting free programs in February for adults age 50 and older.

A 3.5-mile moderate walk is set for Feb. 8, 8:30 a.m.-2:30 p.m., at La Honda Creek Preserve. The hike will cover upper La Honda Creek and a vista point that has panoramic views of the ocean and the Santa Cruz Mountains. A Feb. 9 virtual seminar will focus on the health effects of food choices, including the diseases that result from excessive sugar intake and how to prevent them. The webinar is set for 11-12:15 p.m. Register at https://www.bayareaolderadults.org/bao-lectures.
