A Pennsylvania man was arrested after police said he sent the family of a missing Suisun City woman fake messages regarding her wherabouts.
Bichphuong “Phuong” Le, 25, was last seen around 4 p.m. April 25 leaving her home.
Her unlocked car, with the windows rolled down, was found in the Fairfield Barnes & Noble parking lot around 4 a.m. the next day. Her book-filled backpack, wallet and other personal items reportedly were locked in the trunk.
On Saturday, family and friends received instant messages and text messages regarding her whereabouts. Police later identified the sender as a 22-year-old resident of the Township of Chester, Penn.
Pennsylvania authorities determined the messages were a hoax, police said, and arrested the man.
Fairfield police did not release the man’s name.
During the weekend, search warrants were served at the home and business of one of Le’s former employers, whose name has not been released. Though he is not a suspect, police said, he corresponded with her as recently as April 25.
Le is described as Vietnamese, 5 foot 3, 105 pounds, with black hair and brown eyes.
