An alleged sex crime by Kevin Spacey has been under review in Los Angeles County, according to a number of reports, but at least one outlet is saying no charges will be filed against the former “House of Card” actor.
The alleged crime occurred in October 1992 in West Hollywood, which means the statute of limitations has expired, TMZ is reporting.
No other details were available, but multiple reports have said the L.A. County Sheriff’s Department has completed its investigation and has turned the case over to the District Attorney’s Entertainment Industry Sex Crimes Task Force.
Spacey is also being investigated Massachusetts and the United Kingdom. According to the Daily News, the 58-year-old actor is under criminal investigation in Massachusetts for allegedly grabbing the genitals of a then-18-year-old man at a Nantucket club in 2016, according to the alleged victim’s mother, Heather Unruh.
“I want to see Kevin Spacey go to jail,” said Unruh, a former Boston news anchor. “I want to see Kevin Spacey have the hand of justice come down on him, not just for my son, but for the many others who have yet to speak their truth.”
Scotland Yard is also investigating three sexual assault allegations against Spacey, two from 2005 and a third in 2008.
The career of the two-time Academy Award winner has been in a free fall since last year after actor Anthony Rapp accused him of sexual misconduct from decades ago. Rapp said he was 14 and Spacey 26 in 1986 when an inebriated Spacey climbed on top of him and held him down following a party at Spacey’s apartment. Rapp says he was able break free from Spacey and flee from the apartment.
Other accusers have since come forward, including some who described Spacey’s behavior on the set of “House of Cards” as “predatory.” He was fired from the Netflix series not long afterward.
Director Ridley Scott took the unprecedented step of replacing Spacey and reshooting his scenes with Christopher Plummer after shooting had already completed in the film “All the Money in the World.”
