True fans of Captain Jack Sparrow need more than some cheesy eye patch, their mama’s dangly earring and a bandanna to play along at home. Really into piracy? It’s time to put into port at this pirate-themed store.

THE SCENE: The SeaWolf set sail almost two years ago. How, you might ask, does a pirate store sustain itself? Are there mutinies aplenty in Fremont? The answer might be that the store is so well-done it’s worth an expedition from parts far-flung.

You’ll find plenty of piratewear, all manner of pirate-themed T-shirts and the sort of booty that delights kids. Replicas of pieces of eight, jewels and tacky rings all would make great party swag. For the serious buccaneer, there are expensive collectibles such as reproduction flintlocks.

Interest in the Pirates of the Caribbean movie series might drive some business, but the store isn’t just a tribute to Cap’n Jack. It’s about a swashbuckling, devil-may-care zest for the Jolly Roger.

TIPS: Check out www.pirateswag.com for more info and a very cute map with the store’s location (36551 Fremont Blvd., Fremont). The store is open 10 a.m.-7 p.m. Monday-Saturday. Call (510) 494-0533 for more information.
