LAFAYETTE — Twin Canyon Girl Scout Camp, adjacent to Briones Regional Park, will host an Oct. 5 hike to the ridge to raise money to help preserve the camp.

Twin canyon has been threatened with closure for the past few years as the Girl Scouts of Northern California determines which of their properties can be made self-sustaining.

For a $50 donation, hikers can ascend the rough Junior Trail through the camp and return via East Bay Regional Park Trails for a “camp brunch.” The one- to-two-hour hike is suitable for hikers 12 and older, as the terrain is quite steep.

The event opens at 7 a.m. Saturday and closes at 11 a.m. Register online only to help preserve this important link in Lafayette’s open space buffer at http://girlscoutsnorcal.doubleknot.com/event/hike-a-thon-to-preserve-twin-canyon-girl-scout-camp-10052013/1334899
