High Sierra is so much more than just another music festival.
First off, the four-day fandango takes place in the gorgeous setting of the Plumas-Sierra County Fairgrounds in Quincy, nestled some 3,500 feet above sea level. It’s there that music lovers frolic about, listening to a wide variety of musical acts, as well as do yoga, Pilates and other activities.
This year’s festival — set for June 30-July 3 — is loaded with headliner-worthy talent. The top names on the lengthy bill include Ben Harper and the Innocent Criminals, Tedeschi Trucks Band, Thievery Corporation, Joe Russo’s Almost Dead, Dr. Dog, the Del McCoury Band, the Chris Robinson Brotherhood, Greensky Bluegrass, Femi Kuti and the Positive Force, North Mississippi Allstars, ALO and DRKWAV (John Medeski, Skerik and Adam Deitch).
Granted the festival is a bit of a hike from the Bay Area. But I’ve been there and can testify that it’s worth the time and effort.
