MOUNTAIN VIEW — A woman killed in a collision while walking outside the Googleplex on Monday night was hit by a Google bus, authorities said.

Google identified the woman Wednesday as Emily Hong.

“Emily worked in the finance organization and was beloved by her colleagues,” Google spokeswoman Gina Scigliano said in a statement. “She brought an incredible spark to Google. She was inquisitive, creative, analytical, positive, generous and kind. Our deepest condolences are with her family and friends.”

The collision was first reported about 6:45 p.m. Monday at the intersection of Charleston Road and Huff Avenue. Officers arrived to find the the victim lying in the roadway. She was given CPR but died at the scene. Authorities said she was in her 20s.

The bus driver remained at the scene and cooperated with the investigation. Police at this point do not believe drugs or alcohol played a role.

The intersection was closed for an investigation until 4 a.m. Tuesday, according to police.

“Please note, this is still very much an active investigation, and we will release additional details as we are able,” police said in a news release.
