Robin Roberts posted a year-end Facebook message Sunday thanking those who have helped her through recent health battles, including a girlfriend who the ”Good Morning America” anchor had never before spoken about publicly.

“I am grateful for my entire family, my long time girlfriend, Amber, and friends as we prepare to celebrate a glorious new year together,” Roberts, 53, wrote in the post marking the first anniversary of reaching a 100-day milestone of recovery after having a bone marrow transplant in September 2012. Roberts’ sister, Sally Ann, served as a donor for treatment of her myelodysplastic syndrome, a rare blood and bone marrow disease.

Roberts has openly shared her health issues with the public, including an earlier battle with breast cancer, but this was the first time she talked as openly about her sexuality.

People magazine identified Roberts’ girlfriend as Amber Laign, a licensed massage therapist from San Francisco, and said the couple has been together for 10 years.

In May 2012, Roberts scored the first interview with President Barack Obama discussing his support for same-sex marriage on ABC News.
