Paul Saffo on why he’s leaving the Institute for the Future(0)
Appropriately enough, I found out that Paul Saffo was leaving the Institute for the Future via Twitter on Monday:![]()
Fairly or unfairly, most of us equate Saffo with the Institute. So it was surprising, to say the least, to read the announcement. Saffo is probably one of the widely quoted, and most quotable, forecasters working in Silicon Valley. I’ve interviewed him numerous times on a wide variety of subjects.
For those not familiar with IFTF, its Website says:
“The Institute for the Future (IFTF) is an independent, nonprofit research group with nearly 40 years of forecasting experience. The core of our work is identifying emerging trends and discontinuities that will transform global society and the global marketplace.”
Saffo’s decision to move on was final, and by Wednesday, even his Wikipedia entry was updated to reflect the change. I was curious what led to the change, and Saffo agreed to chat by phone on Tuesday. Read the rest of this entry »
