With the game on line, Folsom quarterback Tanner Trosin went to what had been working for his offense all night.
Trosin threw for 601 yards, including a 40 yard touchdown in the closing minutes Friday, as the Bulldogs came from behind to beat host Deer Valley 49-46 in a wild non-league game.
Facing a 4th and 15, Trosin connected with a diving J’Juan Muldrow for the score with 1:35 remaining, his fifth touchdown throw of the night. After a penalty, the Bulldog quarterback found Troy Knox for a two-point conversion.
Knox led Folsom (2-1) with 249 yards receiving while Muldrow had 243 yards.
Deer Valley (1-2) took the lead on the previous possession when running back Matt Smith broke a run to the left side for a 44 yard touchdown with 3:12 remaining. A two-point conversion gave Deer Valley a 46-41 lead at the time.
The Wolverines had one last chance with 1:30 remaining and no timeouts. Deer Valley would advance the ball to the Bulldog 27-yard-line on a 37 yard quarterback sneak by Nsimba Walker. The clock stopped with :01 seconds left, but a frazzled offense off the quick snap would only get a 5-yard-pass before the game ended.
Smith led the Wolverines with 231 yards rushing and five touchdowns. His 44-yard touchdown run midway through the fourth quarter cut a 41-32 Bulldog lead to just a six point advantage.
Deer Valley running back Shane Pooler returned the second half kickoff 82 yards, breaking a 20-20 halftime score.
