STOCKTON — The San Joaquin County Sheriff’s Office is investigating after several fiber optic lines were cut in Stockton leaving many without cellphone or landline service.
The Stockton Record reports (http://bit.ly/1V5THHG ) that the AT&T lines were damaged Tuesday night and that service was restored by 4 p.m. Wednesday.
San Joaquin Sheriff’s Deputy Dave Konecny says the county’s cellular 911 system was affected by the cut lines, with service restored just before 6:30 p.m. Wednesday.
Phone customers in Mountain House, Tracy, Vernalis, Waterford, Villa de Lago and surrounding areas were impacted.
AT&T spokesman Matthew Cross says it is unknown how many customers were affected.
Verizon Wireless spokeswoman Heidi Flato says service was interrupted for their customers in the area as well.
