The model and Snapchat CEO are officially Mr. and Mrs. after tying the knot over Memorial Day weekend.

In case you hadn’t heard, Snapchat billionaire Evan Spiegel and his supermodel fiancee Miranda Kerr tied the knot Saturday evening in an intimate ceremony in the back yard of their traditional 1950s home in the Brentwood neighborhood of Los Angeles.

For news about the traditional designer gown Kerr wore for the occasion, go here.

It turns out the couple have traditional tastes in other ways as well in that Kerr revealed in a February interview with the Times of London that she and her fiance were going to wait until their wedding night to go all the way.

The 34-year-old former Victoria’s Secret model, who is the mother of a six-year-old son with ex-husband Orlando Bloom, said she and Spiegel, 26, were staying abstinent. The couple became engaged in July 2016.

The revelation came up as she and writer Richard Goodwin were chit-chatting about being parents, whether either planned to have more kids and — yes — whether either was using “protection” to prevent an unwanted pregnancy. Kerr popped in with the confession, “I don’t!”

She then began to laugh and explained that there were no plans to have children prior to marriage, which would therefore mean there would be no sex before marriage.

“Not yet,” Kerr said. “Not until after we get married. My partner is very traditional.”

After Goodwin pressed her on whether she in fact meant that she and Spiegel were abstinent, Kerr “winced” but nodded:

“We can’t . . . I mean we’re just . . . waiting.” She then burst into giggles.

But if Kerr and Spiegel decided to go this traditional route, they aren’t alone among celebrity couples. Another couple that publicly revealed they abstained from sex until marriage was singer Ciara and her husband Seattle Seahawks quarterback Russell Wilson. They married in July and recently became parents to a baby girl in April.

In an earlier interview, Kerr had also dished about Spiegel’s low-key personality, saying “He acts like he’s 50. He’s not out partying. He goes to work in Venice [Beach]. He comes home. We don’t go out.”

But that low-key lifestyle seems to suit Kerr and Spiegel, who opted against a big wedding for hundreds of people and decided to exchange vows in front of about 40 close friends and family. They also decided to hold the ceremony in their own back yard, on the grounds of the $12 million home they purchased last year. The home, with a big rolling lawn, was previously owned by Harrison Ford.

Sources told People that the ceremony lasted about 20 minutes and included vows Kerr and Spiegel had written themselves.

“It was a very emotional ceremony. Miranda looked like a princess,” a source told People.

Kerr and Spiegel also made sure to go around and personally thank their guests.

“They walked around receiving congratulations and giving back thank-you hugs,” a second source told People. “They both looked very excited to be married.”

It sounds like they had many reasons to be excited.
