RICHMOND — Electric transportation is the focus of a pair of events being held Sept. 13.

The California Public Utilities Commission is holding a public meeting on “Electric Transportation: What does your community need?” at 6 p.m. Sept. 13 in the council chamber at City Hall, 440 Civic Center Plaza.

CPUC Commissioner Carla Peterman and her staff will outline proposals being made by state electric utilities providers to accelerate the public use of electric vehicles, including personal use, trucking and delivery, and mass transit.

They will also be listening to community concerns and expectations about the effort.

Refreshments will be served and Spanish language interpretation services will be available.

That same day, the city is hosting a free National Drive Electric Week event from 2 to 7:30 p.m. in the parking lot across from the Richmond Main Library at Civic Center Plaza, where the public can see and learn about electric vehicles, electric bikes, EV chargers, ownership, and financing.

For more details on the Drive Electric event call 510-621-1718 or visit Plug in America Richmond CA.
