BRENTWOOD — A 12-year-old boy on a bike survived Wednesday after being hit by a car near a major intersection, police said.

The collision happened about 5:35 p.m. on O’Hara Avenue at the Lone Tree Way intersection. According to police, the boy was riding his bike north on O’Hara and was hit while crossing Lone Tree by a vehicle that was going west.

An air ambulance took the boy to a hospital, police said. They added that he was expected to recover from his injuries.

Police closed westbound Lone Tree Way for about 30 minutes to investigate.

Police said they have not determined what caused the collision to happen but that drugs and alcohol were not a factor.
