Cassidy Brown was the out Leigh couldn’t get last week. Brown knocked four hits in four at bats and drove in two runs to lead the Westmont girls softball team to a 4-2 win over the Longhorns.

Brown slapped a double and three singles, stole two bases and scored once to contribute in three of the four Westmont runs.

Brown wasn’t the only source of offense for the Warriors. Chelsea Skipper roped a double and drove in a run, Courtney Clevenger smacked a double, Allie Mohn knocked a single and had a RBI and Kendall Story, Danielle Ryalls and Melanie Broback each ripped hits in the win.

Skipper was in the circle for Westmont. She tossed seven complete innings, allowing just two runs on four hits and while striking out two.

With only a few weeks left to play in the Mt. Hamilton Division of the Blossom Valley Athletic League, Westmont is in fourth place at 4-4. The Warriors head to Pioneer on May 2 for a 4 p.m. battle.

Prospect had a tough week, falling to Homestead 16-1. The Panthers managed only five hits in the six innings played. Keelin Spencer knocked two hits, but it was Mattea Carveiro who had the big bat. Carveiro blasted a solo homer for the only Prospect run of the game. Annie Whipple and Molly Mills each slapped hits in the loss.

The Panthers were 2-5 in the Santa Teresa Division coming into this week where they were scheduled to face Sobrato before hosting Independence on May 2 at 4 p.m.

Del Mar defeated both of its competitors last week.

The Dons finished the week with a 13-8 won over San Jose. Vanessa DeLeon was 3 for 3 and drove in a run, while Melissa Lalisan smacked a double and a single and had a RBI. Kaitlin Dunkle roped a double and a single and drove in two, Cecilia James ripped two hits and had two RBIs and Katie Hannum slapped a pair of singles. Taijah Ortiz smashed a single and had a pair of RBIs, Allana Beach and Alice Howard each belted hits and drove in runs and Milena Vukcevich and Amayrani Esteban each roped singles in the win.

Hannum was the only Don in the circle. She tossed a complete game and gave up eight runs on only five hits with 11 strikeouts.

The Dons also bested Lincoln with a come-from-behind, walk-off victory in the bottom of the seventh to give the Lions their only loss of the season. Del Mar trailed 3-0, then rallied for four in the bottom of the third and another one in the fifth to take a 5-3 lead. Then Lincoln battled back for three in the top of the seventh to go up 6-4. But Del Mar was equal to the task and scored three runs in the bottom of the seventh for the walk-off win.

Dunkle hammered a home run and a triple and drove in four runs for the Dons. Lalisan crushed a homer and a single and drove in two. Elyse Noda knocked a single and had a RBI, while Howard, Beach and Esteban each slapped hits in the win.

Again Hannum was in the circle for all seven. She allowed six runs on five hits and struck out seven.

Del Mar was 12-3 in the West Valley Division coming into this week where it was scheduled to play Overfelt and Yerba Buena. The Dons will head to Andrew Hill on May 6 for a 4 p.m. game.
