PLEASANTON — Once called “The Most Desperate Town in the West,” Pleasanton of the 1850s was a far different place than today.
Home to brothels, gambling halls and bandits, Main Street was a wild place in the mid nineteenth century.
On Sunday, long-time residents Gene Pons and Phil Henry will do a lively review of the colorful history of Pleasanton — from the 1850s through Prohibition and more recent days.
The free program will run from 2 to 3 p.m. at the Pleasanton Library, 400 Old Bernal Ave. No registration is required.
