Boats and helicopters dispatched by the U.S. Coast Guard, the National Park Service, the Inverness Fire Department and the Sonoma County Sheriff’s Office were searching for a man Sunday afternoon in Tomales Bay near Lawson’s Landing.

Friends of the man called the Point Reyes National Seashore at about 3:40 p.m. and reported that he had fallen out of a motor boat as he was crossing from Lawson’s Landing to the western shore of Tomales Bay to pick up passengers, said Dan Habig, an operations supervisor with the Point Reyes National Seashore.

Habig said the missing man is believed to be in his late 40s, dressed in blue jeans and a blue sweatshirt. Habig said the man lives outside of Marin County.

The National Park Service sent two boats to the area to search, along with boats from Inverness, and the Coast Guard. The Sonoma County Sheriff’s Office sent a helicopter.

Habig said the search would continue until dark.
