Is it ever a bad week when you’re the world’s richest human? According to Forbes magazine’s annual ranking of the world’s billionaires, Gates is No.1 with $56 billion in wealth. (By comparison, Apple Chief Executive and major Disney shareholder Steve Jobs is worth $5.7 billion.) Gates, of course, is chairman of and earned most of his wealth from Microsoft, maker of the inevitable Windows operating system. Lately, in an alliance with No.2 billionaire Warren Buffett, Gates has devoted more of his time to charitable causes.
